I am a multi-discipline artist that loves to dabble in different media such as sand and stone collages, pewter/metal embssing but always find my way back to my first love, oil painting.
The freedom of the painting process that allows you to experiment and go crazy, fascinates me. I start off by exploring with cold or hot wax to create textures and ideas into the medium and then allow the painting to lead me to where it wants to go. This is the surest way of achieving intuitive and unpretenteous artworks. It often takes a lot of time with many many layers of failed attempt underneath.
I am drawn to atmospheric landscapes that captures the emotions and moods of nature. Change is and always will be the essence of the world we live in. Natural laws will always be the one constant and stability that we can not change. These opposites exites me. Light and dark, order versus chaoss, soft againt hard are but a few of the many tentions in nature that inspires me to create and is the underlying theme in my art.
To me the painting must have it's own dialogue with the spectator. What the artist was trying to communicate becomes irrelevant. If everyone sees something different in my paintings, I have succeeded what I have set out to achieve. The artist is just the vessel.
