Russ Johnson Photography

Hi, I'm Russ and I'm based in the beautiful North East of Victoria on the banks of Lake Hume. My journey into Photography began around 2011. I was doing mostly volunteer work for local sporting clubs such as Wagga Wagga Motorcycle Racing Club as well as other contact sports. For a number of years I volunteered with St Vincent De-Paul Society in Wagga Wagga capturing memorable images of beautiful refugees who had settled in Wagga Wagga. I was honoured to be selected to photograph His Excellency, Sir Peter Cosgrove and Lady Cosgrove as they toured and unveiled the new offices for St Vincent De-Paul in Wagga Wagga.

I have experience in live music, event photography, and in 2014 travelled to New Zealand to shoot stills for a major New Zealand recording Artist during the making of a music video clip. Although wedding and portrait photography have been a part of my journey, my work now mostly revolves around landscape and nature photography.

Capturing the elements of the Earth is often difficult but it pushes you to keep searching, to keep looking, exploring and thinking about composition and the message you are trying to convey to your audience. For me personally, spending one on one time in and with nature and the elements has not only allowed me to find and heal myself from past trauma but to also grow professionally and spiritually, and to have a greater acceptance, appreciation and gratitude for all life.

My philosophy in life is simple, 'Do no harm, reduce suffering and bring joy'.

Russ.
